Kanaloa kahoolawensis
The common name for Kanaloa kahoolawensis is Ka palupalu o Kanaloa (the gentleness of Kanaloa) named by the late Parley Kanakaole. Ka palupalu o Kanaloa is found nowhere else on the earth except on the cliffs of Ale`ale Pu`uloae, an islet off Kaho`olawe where only two shrubs can be found. Efforts are underway to propagate more plants as seen here at the National Tropical Botanical Gardens in Lawai on the island of Kaua`i.
