 E ta'u atua, Ta'aroa e! Ha'amaita'i i te moana na, ia tere.

 E ka'u akua, Kanaloa e! Ho'omaika'i i ke moana na, ia kele.

Oh my god, Ta'aroa! Cause the sea to be calm and navigable.

 Ho atu na i te motu i te vahine e te tamarii e!

 Ho aku na i ke moku i ke wahine e ke kamalii e!

Permit us to reach the atolls with the women and children!

Notes: from Tahitian to Hawaiian: 't' = 'k', 'r' = 'l', 'v' = 'w'; therefore, Ta'aroa = Ta(n)aroa = Ka'aloa = Kanaloa also note from this passage ha'a = ho'o kama (child(ren)) alii or ali'i (royal)
